Through the early 1970s, he was with the
Public Relations Division of Cole & Weber, Portland.
Thereafter he joined Edelman Public Relations in San Francisco. He
was a vice president of Lowry Russom & Leeper and a founding
principal of Lowry & Partners. He was also writer-in-chief and
a senior account supervisor for Pat Meier Associates, a San
Francisco-based high technology public relations agency. Then he moved to the
Internet, eventually becoming senior editor of ThirdAge.com. As
its writer-in-chief for its newsletters, daily front page and marketing
materials he became the "voice" of the leading online destination for
first-wave baby boomers.
As an independent copywriter specializing in
marketing communications and public relations, primarily for
business-to-business, he has been widely recognized for his communications
program management and copywriting skills.
He is a member of the International
Association of Business Communicators and Society of Professional
Journalists. He has been a director of The Museum Society,
the membership organization of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
and the Asian Art Museum. He is also a director of the Friends
of Mountain Lake Park and he edits the organization's newsletter. He has
also been an information volunteer for the Fine Arts Museums of San
Francisco, California Academy of Sciences and a tour
docent for KQED (public radio and television). Education: Oregon
State University (undergraduate - English) and the University of
Oregon (graduate - journalism, marketing and communications research).
